How To Dress To Impress For Work
By admin • Jan 14th, 2010This year, many women may have made a new year’s resolution to push themselves further at work in order to gain a promotion.
And part of achieving this ambition could come from the wardrobe they choose.
According to Oonagh Brennan, fashion director at Company magazine, ladies should define the person they are when choosing garments to wear to the office.
"For example, if you are quite feminine but you need to feel smart, then [...] things like structured tailored jackets with edges of detail which are quite feminine, like a shoulder, or a nipped in waist [could look good]," she explained.
For women who favour a more boyish look and who hold up Kate Moss as their style inspiration, masculine tailoring such as white shirts and waistcoats are the best look for the office, Ms Brennan added.
She went on to note that in 2010, office fashion is likely to include power dressing with big shoulders or bodycon dresses with just a hint of Dynasty.
And even when dressing conservatively for work, Ms Brennan explained ladies can add their own unique touch with the accessories they choose.
Her comments come after research by Mintel revealed one in ten female employees has bought smarter work clothes in the last 12 months in order to get ahead at work.
