Stay-At-Home Mums ‘Enjoy Time Online’
By admin • Jan 12th, 2010Being a mum can be a tiring experience and also a lonely one if a partner is at work or women are raising their kids alone.
As a result, it should perhaps come as no surprise that stay-at-home mums spend a significant proportion of their day on the internet.
However, the research by Winmonkey.co.uk revealed one in four mums who do not work spend more time surfing the net than they do with their children, while four out of five are also more likely to be found online than cooking or doing housework.
The survey of 1,082 mums also noted the average mother spends a typical two-and-a-quarter hours a day on the web, with 41 per cent admitting it was often more than three hours.
Social networking sites were found to be the pages visited the most by 41 per cent of the women, followed by online gaming sites at 23 per cent and shopping sites at 16 per cent.
Commenting on the research, Sam Notaro, founder of Winmonkey.co.uk, said: "Finding a balance between time spent online and other responsibilities is extremely important."
Mums may find going online useful if they are looking for advice on childcare.
The government recently launched its Start4Life campaign, which offers expectant or new mums advice on issues such as breastfeeding and when to switch to solids.
How much time do you spend online?

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
