Why Flirting Cannot Be Taken At Face Value
By admin • Dec 23rd, 2009With Christmas fast approaching and women across the UK planning to dress up and hit the annual round of festive parties, they may be looking forward to the chance of having a good old flirt.
And who knows, their efforts could see them securing a new boyfriend for the new year.
However, Sue Ostler, relationship author and ‘Flirt Diva’, says that while being overtly flirty will "always be effective" at luring in a man, it should not be taken at face value as there is no guarantee the man is romantically interested.
Indeed, she explains that people flirt because of a variety of agendas, some because it is in their nature, others because it is fun and a few because they genially wish to ignite some romance.
But for women with their hearts set on reeling in a love interest over the festive period, Ms Ostler has some flirting tips.
She claims that chat-up lines should be relevant, witty and tailored to the situation if they are to prove effective.
"That simply means if you find yourself attracted to someone at Starbucks and strike up a conversation about which drinks are best, you won’t look like a desperado - at the very worst you could become coffee soul mates," the Flirt Diva notes.
According to University of Portsmouth, working on flirting skills could give people the edge over a more attractive rival when it comes to finding a mate.
And Christmas may be the perfect time to practice.
Will you be having a flirt this Christmas?
