Robbie Williams To Return To Take That
By admin • Sep 28th, 2009As someone who is not nor has ever been a fan of Take That, news that Robbie Williams is set to return to the band should not bother me. But it really does.
I remember when he left the group to go it alone back in 1995, my then 14-year-old sister’s heart was broken and she cried for weeks on end. Of course he did go on to enjoy great national success, failing, however, to break America, while the other members of the group were laughed at when they attempted to launch solo careers.
So, when the former boyband returned as a more grown-up group in 2005 with instruments et al - minus Robbie - I couldn’t help but feel a burst of pride for them. Here they were set to enjoy greater success than ever, while Robbie was festering away in Hollywood talking about his alien sightings.
Award after award, old Gary Barlow never ruled out welcoming the Rock DJ singer back to the band, but when he failed to show up to film a snippet clip for a Take That documentary, the fans and the public gave up hope that he would return. Until now.
Robbie has just relaunched his solo career and it has landed without much of a splash, so guess who has come crawling back to Take That? Quelle surprise, Robbie is back in the studio with his old bandmates.
A source told the Daily Mirror: "They’re all writing together. Robbie wouldn’t be happy performing old Take That songs that he has had no part in."
Petty as it is, I would have loved for the boys to deny him his return. They’ve been doing fine without him after all!
Are you happy that Robbie is going back to Take That?
