Stars Shine At National Movie Awards
By admin • May 27th, 2010Some of the brightest stars of the big screen were on hand last night (May 27th) for the National Movie Awards.
And it seems that the voters were happy to ignore the films singled out at the earlier Oscars, Baftas and Golden Globes, choosing to award gongs to some of the last year’s biggest blockbusters.
Indeed, the Twilight Saga practically swept the board, with 2009’s New Moon picking up Best Fantasy and the forthcoming Eclipse winning VUE’s Most Anticipated Movie of the Summer.
Meanwhile, international crush Robert Pattinson won the prize for Performance of the Year for his portrayal of teen vampire Edward Cullen.
Other winners on the night included Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes, which was named as the Best Action/Thriller and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Price, which won the Best Family flick, while The Time Traveler’s Wife received recognition for being the Breakthrough Movie of the Year.
But who were the winners on the red carpet?
According to the Daily Mail, Gwyneth Paltrow looked "amazing" in a 1960s-style pink minidress and matching peep-toes.
On the other end of the scale, the newspaper claims that Katie Holmes’ choice - a striped maxi dress from her Holmes & Yang label - was "unflattering".
Katie was accompanying her husband Tom Cruise, who won the Screen Icon award.
Do you agree with the voters’ choices?
