Simon Cowell Is Engaged
By admin • Mar 9th, 2010He is one of the most confirmed bachelors in showbusiness and attempts from the likes of Sinitta and Terri Seymour to tie him down appeared futile, however, it would seem that Simon Cowell has finally admitted defeat.
On a recent appearance on US television, the music mogul and X Factor judge revealed he is engaged to makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy and even gave her a kiss on the live programme.
Speaking to chat show host Jay Leno, Cowell said he had somebody in his life and "I kinda made a decision this year to make somebody happy."
The usually cool star then grew increasingly embarrassed as Leno invited Mezhgan on to the stage where he joked that he had always said he would only get married if it was to a makeup artist.
Lucky Mezhgan was sporting a £250,000 sparkler, with Leno quipping he thought she had broken her arm as it was so big.
However, when pressed on a possible wedding date, Cowell grew coy, saying it would happen sometime in the next decade.
But this is still a major step forward from his view on marriage just a few years ago when he was still dating Terri.
Speaking at the time, Cowell called marriage "out of date" and "the most ridiculous contract in the world".
On the subject of children, he said: I’m kind of torn because I’m a bit too old to have kids, but then again I think it would be important to have a lot of me’s around in the future."
The couple made their first public appearance together last weekend at Elton John’s Oscar party.
But while Cowell’s love life is on the up, the same cannot be said for his fellow X factor judge Cheryl Cole.
It is now just weeks since she confirmed she has split from her Chelsea footballer husband Ashley and Simon is said to be comforting her.
However, he is not the only famous face to be offering support, with Victoria Beckham also reportedly voicing her sympathies.
In 2008, when news first broke of Cole’s alleged infidelities, Cheryl suggested she had been upset not to have received a call from her former Wag chum Victoria.
It would seem that the former Spice Girls is now keen to build bridges, saying she has a lot of sympathy for the Girls Aloud singer and that "my heart goes out to her",
Victoria went on to call Cheryl a "fantastic, strong woman" and claimed she would be fine once this "horrible situation" was over.
If anyone should know the downside of life as a Wag, it is Victoria, who went through a similar experience as Cheryl in 2004 when it was alleged her husband David had been involved with his personal assistant Rebecca Loos.
