And with relationships developing at such speed under the glare of the media spotlight, it should be unsurprising that engagements are announced just as fast and subsequent wedding planning takes place.
We the public love a good celebrity wedding - that’s why we are so keen to purchase glossy magazines that are packed full of elegant photos from the big day. No one will ever forget the lavish fairytale wedding of Katie Price and Peter Andre back in 2005, or the royal-esque bash that was thrown by David and Victoria Beckham in 1999.
But who are the latest celebrity couples to have tied the knot in an equally glitzy and glamorous bash?
Daughter of one of the world’s wealthiest and most important business magnates Donald Trump, Ivanka, has tied the knot with her newspaper publisher beau Jared Kushner.
The pair, who got engaged last year after dating on and off for around two years, said their I dos in a lavish ceremony at the Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey over the weekend that was attended by 500 of their closest friends and family.
Ivanka, 27, was a vision in a stunning wedding gown designed by Vera Wang that was modelled on that worn by Hollywood legend Grace Kelly when she married Prince Rainier III of Monaco. Apparently she matched her custom-made dress with jewellery from her own collection, which included a platinum-diamond hairpiece, an Art Deco link platinum-diamond bracelet worth $90,000 (£55,000) and platinum mixed-cut clustered diamond earrings worth $130,000.
According to People magazine, father-of-the-bride Donald toasted the newlyweds with a simple: "Be happy and enjoy your life."
This comes after former Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison and her semi-professional boxer fiance Robbie Tickle wed in a secret wedding ceremony in the tropical surroundings of Mauritius earlier this month.
Jennifer, 26, who is currently six months pregnant with her first child, walked down an aisle that overlooked the Indian Ocean, but she did not have her friends and family present.
She and her groom had just two witnesses with them, but she had informed her dad back home of what she was planning because she did not want to disappoint him by leaving him out of the bash entirely.
The actress told OK! magazine: "My dad has always said he wanted to buy my wedding dress and I didn’t want him to see the pictures and miss out on that opportunity, so I took him for lunch and told him."
Former London lord mayor Ken Livingstone tied the knot in an equally unconventional ceremony back in September.
The 64-year-old and his bride Emma Beal, 43, said their I dos at London Zoo to pay tribute to the animals that Ken loves so much. But as if that wasn’t kooky enough, the politician opted out of the usual luxury car to get to the ceremony and took the tube instead with his best man in tow.
Many celebrities fail to surprise when they get married in the usual glamorous and traditional ways, but there is a rare few who choose to reveal their true personality on the big day.
