Celebrities Show Their Election Colours
By admin • May 5th, 2010There’s just one day to go until people across the country will be casting their vote in this year’s General Election and famous faces from both the big and small screens are lining up to show their colours.
Arguably the most influential man in pop music Simon Cowell has revealed to the Sun that he is a true blue and will be backing Conservative leader David Cameron on polling day.
Such an allegiance is not to be sniffed at, as if the music mogul was able to convince most of the country that Susan Boyle is a singing sensation then who knows the power he can wield in British politics.
Meanwhile, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe and Mr Darcy himself Colin Firth are backing the Liberal Democrats - a party which has seen a sudden surge in popularity following its leader Nick Clegg’s strong performance in the televised leaders debates.
Labour is also boasting strong celebrity muscle, with hard man Ross Kemp offering his support to prime minister Gordon Brown, along with comedian Eddie Izzard.
It could be said that all these famous faces are making the usual dreary run-up to the election more glamorous but it remains to be seen whether it will have any real influence on the voters.
Will you be voting?
