Is Botox the Key To Eternal Youth?
By admin • May 14th, 2010Amanda Holden and Dannii Minogue have both admitted to using Botox in the past and rumours abound that far more famous beauties are kept looking that way as the result of the facial injections.
While women may believe that Botox is the key to achieving a youthful appearance, beauty goes far deeper, according to one sector commentator.
Amanda McGillivray, founder of the Natural Skincare Company, said that general health, skin tone, diet and how a person looks after themselves is far more important to staying young and fresh.
Indeed, she added that while many women view Botox as a quick-fix, a long-term skin care routine is likely to be far more beneficial.
Ms McGillivray went on to warn: "Botox is a time bomb waiting to go off in the future. We don’t really know the long-term effects of Botox because nobody has been around long enough to say whether it’s safe or not."
She advised using a good cleanser in the morning and evening in addition to a toner and urged people to moisturise and even exfoliate on a daily basis.
Her comments come after a study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that the cosmetic jab might cause wrinkles rather than get rid of them.
Dr David Becker, an assistant professor of dermatology at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York, claimed that the face will attempt to find a new way to form expressions that bypasses the parts that are paralysed.
