Kate Winslet In Latest Celeb Love Split
By admin • Mar 16th, 2010Kate Winslet has become the latest celebrity to kick off 2010 with a love split, after revealing she has separated from her film director husband Sam Mendes.
The Oscar-winning couple had been married for nearly seven years and worked together for the first time in 2008 when Mendes directed Kate in Revolutionary Road, a movie which captured the break down of a love affair and reunited her with her Titanic co-star Leonardo DiCaprio.
Last year, Kate picked up the Academy Award for best actress in The Reader - while she won a Golden Globe for Revolutionary Road - and thanked Mendes for being a "wonderful husband".
Mendes won the best director gong in 2000 for American Beauty.
Speaking during her Golden Globe acceptance speech, Kate gushed: "Thank you for directing this film, babe, and thank you for killing us every single day and really enjoying us actually being in such horrific pain."
She added the experience had made her love him more.
The couple have a son together - six-year-old Joe - while Kate also has a daughter, Mia Honey, with her first husband Jim Threapleton.
No third party is believed to be involved and the split is reported to have been amicable.
Meanwhile, the Sun reports that Ashley Cole has begged Cheryl to put off plans for a separation until after the World Cup this summer.
