Tess Admits ‘It’s Been Tough’

By admin • Mar 10th, 2010

They were one of the golden couples of UK television, both presenters of popular shoes with extremely successful careers behind them, while also enjoying a seemingly idyllic family life.

However, Tess Daly and Vernon Kay’s six year marriage was called into question several weeks ago when it was reported he had been sending suggestive text messages to a 23-year-old Page 3 girl.

The presenter of Family Fortunes on ITV1 immediately apologised for his indiscretion, telling the listeners of his Radio 1 show he had been "foolish and stupid".

But Tess, who is mother to Kay’s two children Phoebe, five, and Amber, ten months, has chosen to take her time in speaking about the matter in public, leading her to break her silence for the first time this week.

In an appearance on BBC’s The One Show, the Strictly Come Dancing presenter said: "It’s been tough as you can imagine, but I’ve taken some time out to think things through and at the end of the day we’ve had ten great years together, two beautiful kids and we both think that’s worth fighting for."

She admitted that dealing with the incident had been hard but that she has received a lot of support from the people she has met since the reports first broke.

Tess is currently promoting her new book The Baby Diaries.

She is not the only celebrity wife to suffer from the revelation of a ’sex text’ scandal involving her husband in recent weeks, with Cheryl Cole announcing she is leaving her husband Ashley following reports of a similar indiscretion.

Would you take Vernon back if you were Tess?
