Ange And Jen ‘Are Fashion Icons For Over-30s’
By admin • Jan 22nd, 2010The big 3 0 is a landmark in any women’s life but it may leave them wondering if they can still get away with dressing in the same way they did when they were in their 20s, or if it is time to put the plunging tops and miniskirts into storage.
But although deciding how to dress in a way which both flattering and on-tend in their 30s and 40s may seem like an impossible dilemma to many ladies, there are plenty of famous faces offering inspiration on how to dress to impress.
Lizanne Harris, fashion director at Stylist, says when it comes to stylish celebs over the age of 30, women should cast their eyes across the pond for inspiration.
"I do think Americans do it better, like Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie [...] that sort of simple sophistication is very American and it is one of the trends for spring/summer that American preppy sports feel. It is very wearable," she notes.
In contrast, Ms Harris claims UK celebrities over the age of 30 encounter the same problems as all their less famous counterparts when it comes to deciding what to wear.
She states such stars have a tendency to go overboard and either overdo it or "completely underdo it".
The Loose Women may be an example of this, with the Daily Mail reporting that at this week’s National Television Awards, 59-year-old Sherrie Hewson wore a sheer black top, with only some strategic embroidery preventing "a full frontal assault", while Carole McGiffin wore a short skirt that "few women of 49 would risk".
Do you think you need to change the way you dress once you pass 30?
