Brit Style ‘Is Cool’
By admin • Jun 11th, 2010Long have Britons lived in the shadow of their US counterparts and followed the trends originating from across the pond.
However, this may now be about to change, as UK brands are increasingly being snapped up overseas.
Oonagh Brennan, fashion director at Company, explains that as brands such as Topshop, French Connection and All Saints have become increasingly popular in the US, this has shown style-conscious Americans that they do not have to splash out on labels in order to stay on trend.
Indeed, such high street stores have helped to bridge the gap between warehouse and discount stores and high-end garments.
But it is not only the price that is making British style a hit overseas - it is the design as well.
"I think the British style is very different and eclectic and anything goes really. That is very appealing especially in the light of style icons like Kate Moss who always look amazing," Ms Brennan explains.
She adds that this has helped to encourage people to experiment with the way they dress and not attempt to conform with their peers but to make sure that they stand out from the crowd.
This summer, Brit girls are likely to be abandoning their skirts in favour of shorts, already a wardrobe staple of Ms Moss.
Do you think us Brits are the most stylish?
